Founding Full Stack Engineer Applied AI company - San Francisco, In-Office)
Applied AI startup is hiring Founding Full Stack Engineers to build the core platform from the ground up. The company is developing autonomous AI agents that automate key business functions - think growth, market discovery, and product orchestration - with a bold long-term vision around using AI to systematically create and scale new ventures. They already have paying customers, a multi-year runway, and backing from a top-tier Silicon Valley venture fund that beat out several other elite firms for the deal.
The Opportunity
You'll be on a small elite, high-intensity team. You'll report directly to the CEO and have massive ownership over the product and technical architecture. Day-to-day, you'll be building the full-stack infrastructure that powers AI agents across the growth stack - designing orchestration layers, event-driven workflows, and data pipelines, while also shipping polished frontend experiences. This is a true 01 role where every system you build becomes the foundation for what comes next.

What You'll Build
- The core platform where autonomous AI agents operate - coordinating across tasks like content generation, ad optimization, market research, and campaign management
- Backend orchestration systems that allow multiple AI agents to collaborate and execute reliably at scale
- Frontend and generative interfaces that enable both internal teams and customers to interact with intelligent agents
- End-to-end product features that ship directly to paying customers
What We're Looking For
- 36+ years of experience building full-stack products from scratch
- Deep proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL - TypeScript is non-negotiable
- Strong systems design and backend architecture skills
- Experience or genuine curiosity with AI-driven systems, LLMs, multi-agent workflows, or calling AI APIs
- Prior experience at a VC-backed startup or top tech company is required; FAANG is fine if paired with startup sensibilities
- CS degree from a strong undergraduate program (especially important if you have ~4 years of experience)
- Hackathon wins or notable side projects are a bonus
- You move fast, think clearly, communicate well, and have a bias for action
- Must be hands-on - this is an IC role, not a management position
Compensation
- Base salary: $150,000 $220,000 (up to $265K for exceptional candidates)
- Equity with performance-based increases
- Visa sponsorship available (H-1B transfers, O-1 visas, STEM OPT extensions)
